Photography
Mark Zhu is a Chinese designer and photographer based in Paris, France.
He currently works as a typeface designer at Black[Foundry] in Paris, specializing in multi-script type design and typography, with a focus on Chinese and Latin. He holds an MA in typeface design from the University of Reading (UK), and a postgraduate diploma in typeface design from Ésad d’Amiens (France).
His photography works mainly explores the relationship between humans and the urbanscape: how people navigate the urban spaces surrounding them, interacting with the city's history while shaping its future. Drawing from his design background and personal journey, he is particularly interested in urban areas where visual cultures of different origins collide and mix, and how the people living there transform the cityscape.
